DAVE MIRRA PERFORMS STUNT AT 15TH ANNUAL NICKELODEON KIDS CHOICE AWARDS

| On Saturday, Dave Mirra presented an award at Nickelodeons 15th Annual Kids Choice Awards. He also pulled out all the stops for the event by doing a back flip into a 4,000-gallon tank of Nickelodeons signature green slime. Rosie ODonnell hosted the star-studded event in attendance were Matt Damon, Mike Myers, The Rock, Dana Carvey, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Alba, Pink and Usher. Mirras stunt closed out the show in front of a live audience. The Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards will be televised this Tuesday and Saturday at 6 p.m. Eastern and Pacific time. |
Thorne Leaves Hoffman Bikes

It's official, Rick Thorne has left Hoffman Bikes. The reason for the departure is unknown and currently Rick does not have a new bike sponsor. Rick is just one of several high-profile pros to leave Hoffman Bikes in the last couple of years. It's a list that includes Mike Escamilla who left to ride for Volume in 2001.
Where Thorne goes from here is not known, but we'll let you know when we hear more on the subject.

| Dave Mirra brought out the heat at the 2002 Roots Jam contest on Saturday, April 6 the DC BMX pro beat out 86 fellow pros to take first. Now in its fifth year, the annual Roots Jam is thrown by BMX apparel-maker Underground Products, and draws top pros for its informal and fun atmosphere. Last years winner, DC rider Chad Kagy, was on hand to witness the good times, but suffered a sprained wrist in practice and couldnt compete. The course was pretty good. Mirra definitely had the standout run it was easy to tell he won, said Kagy. Last year, when I talked to Dave, he was like, I want to go to some small comps to show people Im not all about the ESPN comps. He decided to show up at a smaller comp and killed it. Road Fools 9 also premiered on the final night of the contest, which includes footage of Mirra; Dave traveled throughout California and the Southwest with the Road Fools crew in a huge RV to film for the video. Kagy summed up the Roots Jam weekend: The atmosphere was super-relaxed. Theres no security, so its mellow. It was a lot of fun to ride with everyone. |
