Congratulations to Bones Swiss bearing team rider, Caswell Berry on finishing first at the Tampa Am. Bones Wheel rider Danny Morrin placed 8th and Bones Swiss rider Stefan Janoski placed 11th.

A certain retired Powell team skater recently called from Italy after winning the ISPO vert contest talking about a comeback.

Pat Channita, Jon Comer and Javier Sarmiento are in Australia competing in the Globe Challenge.

Steve Caballero skated the Pink Motel pool before the Old School Skate Jam with Brad Bowman, Dave Hackett, Wally Inouye, Pineapple, Salba, Lance Mountain and many more. Cab will be going to Germany to play with the Faction for Monster magazine's 20th Anniversary party. Speaking of Faction, they are in the studio finishing up four new tunes.

Cab is in training mode on his YZ 125 for the next crossover event in Anaheim and he's working on a new prototype skateboarding pad for Fox clothing. He will be a featured skater in THPS 4 video game and also featured in the new Krux ad showcasing the Krux team having fun. He's working on a new Cab 8 shoe, practicing for the Tampa pro contest, will be giving away the Skater of the Year award for the ESPN awards with the Original Bones Brigade crew and is in the new Skate Legends book by Michael Brooke.

Cab no longer rides for G-shock.

Jon Comer and Pat Channita will continue to spend some time together for the next couple of months. After Australia they will be attending the AWH Distribution Open House in Chicago to hang out and skate. Then they will venture down to Ron Jon's two Florida stores in Ft. Lauderdale and Cocoa Beach for some shop appearances and skate demos. Jon and Pat will then meet up with Caballero for the 8th annual Tampa Pro contest.

Jon is now on Da Kine for all his backpack and travel bag needs.

Moses Itkonen finished up his much anticipated RDS video and premiered it with much applause at the ASR show in Long Beach, CA. Duffs will be releasing Moses signature shoe in some new color ways.

Jason Ellis has been filming for his new upcoming T.V. Show. He recently went to New York for a special autograph signing of his new computer stat card, he is also in the process of designing his signature guitar for Fender. Be on the look out for his Transworld 20 questions interview soon. He recently modeled for Gear magazine to showcase (in his own words) athletes dressed as poofs. His part in the new RDS video was sweet. He has also been filming for the DC video.

Andy Macdonald has finished healing from his surgery and is cleared to start skating again by his doctor. Andy helped design a new park to be started this month in Claremont. CA. The street course and vert ramp will built by Twister while a 7'-9' cement bowl w/coping and real tiles will be built by Wally Hollyday (builder of legendary park, Cherry Hill).

Andy will join Nickelodeon Games and Sports' Mati Moralejo to host the first-ever Maximum Rocket Power Games. Based on Nickelodeon's hit animated Rocket Power series, the Maximum Rocket Power Games is a half-hour live-action special inspired by the new Rocket Power movie "Race Across New Zealand". The Maximum Rocket Power Games will air on Nickelodeon Saturday, February 16th at 9:30p.m. EST/PST.

Javier Sarmiento is in Australia filming before he enters the Globe contest. After the contest he and Anthony Claravall plus crew will head over to New Zealand to film. If you saw the new issue of Slap magazine #118, then you know that it was blessed with Javier's backside nose bluntslide on a super tall rail. If you haven't seen it, be sure to pick one up.

Powell Team News
****************
The Powell Am Team, Rodney Jones, Tony Manfre, Silas Baxter-Neal and Oliver Buchanan went down to Miami Beach immediately following the Tampa Am contest and destroyed..themselves.

Rodney entered Tampa Am this year but a few falls kept him out of the finals. Limping out of Miami, Rodney returned to San Diego long enough to heal before flying to Minneapolis for the Street Jam 2 contest. He grabbed himself a 2nd place finish behind Aera shoe and Bones Wheel teammate, Dayne Brummet. Rodney will be back in his hometown of Baltimore for the next 2 months filming and working on getting the coverage and recognition he deserves.

Tony was also at the Tampa Am contest and he too had a few falls. His skating style and different approach to life was certainly noticed by all who attended. While in Miami, Tony also got hurt while trying to film for the upcoming Thrasher video. He will share his video part with his new Powell teammates and friends. Rumor has it that Tony switch ollied Wallenberg. Only the video will tell the truth.

Oliver was the victim of injuries on this trip. This mighty Grom from Salt Lake City was trying to throw his weight around and ended up getting squashed by a towering 15 stair handrail. Oliver made a name for himself at Tampa and is probably the smartest little grom in the industry today.

Silas was the only guy to come out of Florida without a limp. He got some good stuff while there and expect a Check Out in a future Transworld magazine. Silas was picked up by Venture trucks while at the Tampa Am contest obviously impressing Venture Team manager Justin "EARS" Williams.from prpagana news letter

The Emerica team mansion is a sealed deal. In what could possibly go down in history as a classic what-in-the-hell-could-he-have-been-thinking move Emerica team manager Justin Regan decided to test the bonds of friendship that exist amongst his teamriders and put them all under the same roof. Albeit, a very large roof with high ceilings. Will this move bring the team together and give even greater focus to the Emerica video project in progress? Permanent residents are Erik Ellington and his wife Luciana, Andrew Reynolds, Heath Kirchart, Justin Regan, and Emerica video filmer, Jon Miner. With five bedrooms taken and four to spare, theres plenty of room for any visiting Emerica riders who need a place to stay in L.A. while they work on their Emerica video parts with Miner. The first guest to make himself a local has been Emerica am Bryan Herman, who has been utilizing a guest room for the weekend while going out filming around L.A. over the last few days. Paul Machnau and Caswell Berry are no longer riding for Brigade or Bones Wheels. They will continue to skate for Bones Swiss Bearings.

-RONNIE CHALK GETS TRANSWORLD BMX COVER

Cover-boy Chalk strikes again.

Ronnie Chalk's cover collection grows. Ronnie swoops onto the cover of the latest TransWorld BMX, with a fully extended superman-seatgrab. "This kid is unstoppable," BMX team manager Brian Botts says about Ronnie's latest flick. "Three covers in one year? Ronnie's got to be setting some cover-per-year records." -A still sponsorless Dave Osato won the Planet Australia street comp. Sponsors? We don't need no stinking Sponsors!

-Speaking of Mosh, in "news of the weird", Rich Hirsch told me that the guys there are putting out the call for sponsor-me tapes to all riders under the age of 13. I have a feeling that someone at Mosh is going to have to sit through hours and hours of boring footage. But if you want to send something in (remember to include your name address and phone number), here's the address:

Mosh Bikes Attn. Sponsorship 3587 Old Conejo Rd Newbury Park, Ca 91320

-Huffy gave the boot to the "Wildman" Todd Lyons. Probably shouldn't have cut those dreadlocks. So that leaves, what, one (or is it two) riders on the Huffy team? Their much hyped "re-entry into BMX" from a couple years back didn't last long.

-GT/Schwinn? Or should I say Mongoose/GT/Schwinn? Who knows what's going on with that company, but it does look like they are building a team again. But it probably won't be as big as in years past. Apparently the GT show team will be about the same as it was, so look for them out on tour as usual.

-Nirve has dropped Mike Laird. Brian Wizmerski is on Schwinn.

-Rich Hirsch has really started to come into his own recently. First was his new clothing company (Salvation), then getting hooked up with Odyssey, and now a full sponsorship with Mosh. Not bad for a guy from Blaine, Washingto

Paul Machnau linking heavy lines for the RDS video. p: courtesy Momentum.

Paul Machnau is moving out of his apartment with Alex Chalmers and is getting a place in So Cal. Paul Machnau has left the Brigade on good terms and at this point has no board sponsor. Paul is finishing up his RDS/FSU2002 video part. Rumors have it that Paul filmed a line through La Jolla High; hitting the 18 stair rail and making his way to the massive double set ledge.Look for his RDS scraps in the next 411. Paul broke off Arizona last weekend with big rail lines and other various hammers during the latest RDS road trip. Momentum Wheels is stoked to have such a hammer machine on their wheel team.

Mike Hastie has been picked up by Darkstar Wood. Mike now rides for Darkstar, Momentum, gets flowed DC's and RDS. Mike tied for first place in theMake a Wish best trick contest on his first Darkstar trip. Mike has a part in the new digital video with Russ Milligan Ryan Smith just flew down south to California as well Ryan is working on adding to his mountain of quality photo and video shots for the RDS video and more multiple paged am interviews. No new board sponsor yet for Smith (at least one of public knowledge!).

Colin McKay had a nasty wreck while blasting Danny Way's go-cart up the loading dock at the DC ramp. He tore up his shoulder and has already had surgery. Colin of course has his part for the RDS video finished The part has a full retrospective on his many video parts, bonus party footage from the Tony Hawk tours, and the typical vertical innovation that Colin is know for Moses Itkonen has been skating and filming for the RDS video as well as working on next years line of RDS products. He spent the last weekend in Arizona with the RDS crew hitting up the many spots.Yet another much needed generator set up was purchased for the southern style late night sessions. The first RDS generator was stolen out of the back of Paul Machnau's Dodge Dakota. EVENTS

On the second weekend of November of this year, many wishes came true. The Texas Skate Jam came to past. There was lots of skating, a dunking booth, photos, filming, autographs, cheers, and stickers being tossed out over the two day event - all for The Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Texas Gulf Coast. South Shore Distributing and South Side Indoor Skatepark, with help from Adio Footwear, Hawk Shoes, Planet Earth, Element Clothing, Transworld Skateboarding, and 411 raised over $35,000 for Make-A-Wish. Tony Hawk, Kris Markovich, Richie Belton, Dave Mayhew,

Nate Jones, Josh Kalis, Jesse Fritsch, Ed Selego, and over ninety other pros and ams showed up. Unpaid for any appearance fees, they just came to skate and help raise money for Make-A-Wish.

There were two best trick contests, one on Saturday (Mini Ramp) and one on Sunday (Big Prop-Street). On the Mini Ramp Jam the big hitters were Pat Duffy (Kickflip to B/S Nose Blunt Revert out), Alan Petersen (360 Judo over the gap), and Kris Markovich (Alley-oop F/S 360 Ollie Grab to F/S Rock-n-Roll).On the Big Prop killing it was Stacy Lowery (B/S 50-50 on the downside of the big ledge-first person with big enough balls to try it), Chet Thomas (Switch-Flip B/S Noseside from pyramid to prop), and Mike Hastie (landing everything he tried...).As for the visuals on all this you'll see every trick in 411, plus a bunch of team videos coming out in the future Registration is full for Tampa Am 2002. If you were planning on going, plan ahead for 2003. The world renown am contest runs January 17-20th 2002. See www.skateparkoftampa.com for more details Willy Akers won the Beast of the East finals this past weekend in New York. Danny Morrin was #2, Chris Kendall was #3, Conor Faybut< got 4th, and Steve Fauser< got 5th "The Kasperholic gets a day job"

1984 is going on a tour in mid December to January. The east coast will be the target. Details are slim at the moment. More to follow On November 3, the skateboarding community came together to skate and raise money for the victims of the September 11th WTC tragedy.

The event was held on Saturday, November 3rd at the Millennium Skate Park in BayRidge Brooklyn. Rain hindered efforts a bit, but by mid afternoon, all were ripping. Riders in attendance were: Tony Cox, Pat Smith, Dan Pensyl, Paul McElroy, Tino Razo and some local rippers...

Prizes were raffled off, a best trick contest was held and everyone walked out of there with something Between donations from companies and individuals, as well as the money from product being raffled off, we raised over $35,000. We want to thank all the companies that came through for this benefit and we especially want to thank you and all the other skateboarders. Even though the event is over, the work is not. If you would like to help, you can make a donation at: http://www.helping.org/wtc/ny/nystate.htm

-Toy Machine picked up the amazing Diego Bucchieri after he quit his former board team. A little bit of backlash from the north means that Diego wont be receiving free trucks or wheels from his recent sponsors any longer. No big deal since he's already on Ricta

Ed Templeton is said to have a few more major new riders in the works for Toy Machine. A new day is dawning . . . Chany Jeanguenin's new shoe on Osiris will be in shops by 3/1/01 and Jerry Hsu's new shoe will be available 5/15/02.

Matt Beach returned on the 24th from an Australian Tour where he visited such illustrious places as Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Brisbane and more. Demos, filming and photographing occurred daily as did skating all over the city and as Matt attempted to fly down a double set of stairs, he did the splits and almost ripped his foot off at the bottom. He also saw what the Australians claim to be the largest gold nugget in the world tucked away safely in a museum. Matt is also leaving the tree-infested state of Oregon for the sunny skies of Huntington Beach, CA after the first of the year.

The guys over in the DC camp have been donating much of their time to various charities in the past few weeks. Josh Kalis was recently at the Make-A-Wish Foundation Skate Jam on Nov. 10. After attending the event down at the Houston Southside Skatepark Josh hooked up with Rob Dyrdek and Brian Wenning to do some filming.

Meanwhile, Danny Way, Colin McKay and Jason Ellis took part in the charity food drive at the Encinitas YMCA skatepark. The event was used to help families out for Thanksgiving. -Van Homen is now riding for Fit bikes cause of the problems with Schwinn/GT.. But at leats he's got a bike sponsor now.

-BMX Action" magazine had to change it's name to "Faction BMX", cause owners of the original BMX action held onto the copyright and were causing problems.

-GT/Schwinn were bought by Pacific. Pacific also owns Mongoose. For 3 months Bestwick, Osato, Voelker, Homen, Snowden, Weed, Wilhilm, Haugen, Garcia, Nolli haven't have a bike sponsor..
